Learn to skim this summer! Skim camps are a great way for parents to keep their
children busy during the summer season by introducing them to a new sport.  Kids
looking for a fun time on the beach with friends will enjoy the 4 consecutive days of
instruction lasting 3 hours and 45 minutes a day.  Campers will gain ample instruction
from professional skimboarder, Paulo Prietto, and/or other qualified instructors to im-
prove their skimboarding performance.  Participants will learn the fundamental skills of
skimboarding and basic ocean knowledge such as tides and waves.

Skim camps are not only for the beginner skimboarder. The instructor(s) at skim camps
will teach to your ability even if you already skim and are just interested in refining
your skills. So far, there are 4 skim camps scheduled for the summer of 2008. Each
camp is from 9:00AM – 12:45PM.

Contact Solag Skim School right away to reserve a spot for one of the above sessions.
Meet at the stairway outside the public parking garage at the Montage Resort. Cross
streets: PCH & Wesley

Skim camps are not limited to any number of participants; however 4 or more
participants are required for a skim camp to occur. In the case of excessive participants,
an additional instructor will be provided.

Have you been honing your skimboarding skills for a while and want to excel to the next level? Are you interested in skimming several of Laguna’s beaches in one week with a group of friends? Well now you can! Solag Skim School now offers for the first year an alternative to the traditional camp. The Advanced Camp is for intermediate to advanced riders that are looking for more of a challenge. Enjoy the company of your peers while skimming where the waves are best in Laguna. That’s right, this is a mobile camp where riders have the opportunity to skim Aliso, 10th Street, West Street, Thalia, and the many other beaches in Laguna.

There are two ways you can join Solag’s Advanced Camp. The first is to be invited by one of Solag’s instructors, and the second is to submit an application. The Advanced Camp will not be teaching beginner skills; rather this is an opportunity for riders to progress their abilities by skimming better waves with peers of similar ability in an encouraging environment. Skimboarders will be pushed to progress while skimming from 9am to 3pm for four consecutive days. Lunch is included.

Riders will meet in the Aliso Beach parking lot at 9am. Depending upon the swell and conditions, participants will go to the best beach in Laguna. For example, let’s say that the tide is high and there’s a 2-4 foot south swell. Participants will accompany Paulo and additional instructors (if necessary) to Thalia to catch the high tide. In between sessions, participants will grab lunch before catching a second session at a low tide spot such as Aliso or West St. This is a great way for participants to improve their skills in a short period of time. Instruction will focus more on wave riding maneuvers such as wraps, siders, airs, tricks, and tricks on waves.

Interested in having a skim camp in your own neck of the woods? Inquire about having Paulo come to your beach in Florida, Texas, Italy or wherever. He can take his expertise and teachings on the road and customize a camp or lesson for you and your friends. Scheduling depends upon group size and availability. Find out more info:
